Grant, Kerri

Kerri Grant specializes in modeling and analysis on a range of environmental, mass tort and insurance coverage issues. She supports clients by estimating environmental and mass tort liabilities, advising on, and aiding in insurance recovery, and providing litigation risk analysis and advice.  This includes the development of detailed probabilistic, environmental damage, litigation risk and insurance allocation models.

The primary focus of her work for Gnarus clients is aiding in expert testimony and settlement support in insurance recovery litigation.  This includes working with counsel and senior management to resolve insurance coverage disputes by combining her expertise in liability estimation with detailed knowledge of insurance coverage issues.  She has developed complicated quantitative models to evaluate the cost consequences of alternative insurance coverage theories, allocating liability to insurance profiles, and precisely calculating and summarizing assigned carrier liability.  Ms. Grant has participated in settlement negotiations, aided in the preparation of expert testimony and provided support for expert deposition and trial.

Her clients include many leading law firms, as well as major companies in automobile and consumer manufacturing, aerospace, insurance and electric and gas production and distribution industries.

Ms. Grant earned a Master of Science in Environmental Assessment and Evaluation from The London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University.

Devitt, Timothy

Timothy Devitt is an experienced analyst of technical and economic issues in environmental and hazardous material regulation. Mr. Devitt also provides analysis of the structure and operation of the environmental services industry.

He is a registered professional engineer and a diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Timothy’s management responsibilities have included the direction of multiple analyses of multibillion dollar environmental policy and litigation. He also has held senior corporate officer responsibilities in leading environmental consulting firms. Timothy was graduated from the University of California with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.

Prior to joining Gnarus, Timothy worked in the environment and insurance claims groups at LECG, PA Consulting Group and Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett Inc.

Zelikson, Jeffrey

Jeffrey Zelikson has more than 30 years of experience in environmental policy and implementation issues that span the private sector, state and federal government arenas. He has been involved in environmental policy, regulatory and program development, and management and implementation of environmental programs since the initiation of such activities. He specialized in water resources issues from the early 1970s and hazardous waste site policy making and remediation activities since the discovery of the nation’s first such sites in the late 1970s. His direct field and decision-making experiences at hundreds of sites has provided significant value to Gnarus clients involved in disputes with government regulatory agencies, insurance coverage for environmental damage, Superfund cost recovery and contribution actions, as well as water pollution, waste management and remediation matters.

Before joining Gnarus Advisors in 2010, Mr. Zelikson was engaged in private-sector consulting at LECG and Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett Inc. He left the Environmental Protection Agency in 1995 after completing a distinguished 25-year career with the agency.

Mr. Zelikson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the City University of New York. He completed graduate studies in mechanical engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology and holds professional engineering licenses from the States of New York and New Jersey.

Sellick, Stephen

Stephen Sellick is an experienced consultant specializing in the management of complex quantitative analysis in litigation matters, particularly projects in environmental, mass tort and product liability claims.  He evaluates claims in insurance allocation, internal management, cost allocation, cost recovery and litigation risk analysis. He also participates in studies involving regulatory economics, cost accounting and financial analysis of the electric utility industry. He works with clients in insurance, consumer manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, natural gas, pharmaceuticals, electric utility, and agricultural products industries.

Mr. Sellick’s practice extends to work in board ESG oversight and risk management; in this space he is focused on assisting for-profit, social enterprises, and nonprofits with risk management of environmental & mass tort contingent liabilities; governance & board structure via board assessments & board skills matrix reviews; and board formation & best practices.

Mr. Sellick is the Chairman of Gnarus’ Board of Directors and works with Gnarus executives and its Board to determine the overall direction and strategy of the company consistent with our team’s vision and values.  He is active in the San Francisco chapter of the Private Directors Association and the Alumni Council of the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago. Mr. Sellick is a member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals and is recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a recommended expert in Insurance & Reinsurance Expert Witnesses.

Mr. Sellick holds an M.A. in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Simon, John

John Simon directs environmental projects throughout the United States for Gnarus. He has more than 30 years of experience assessing, managing and mitigating issues associated with hazardous sites.

Mr. Simon’s areas of expertise include remediation, due diligence, environmental insurance, liability risk transfer and environmental management. He also frequently provides expert testimony and is editor-in-chief of the Remediation Journal. Mr. Simon is the task group lead for the ASTM Greener Cleanup Standard and an active member of the Sustainable Remediation Forum.

He earned a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University. Mr. Simon also graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Jessica Horewitz, PhD

Dr. Jessica Horewitz provides Gnarus clients with consulting and expert services specializing in risk management in the mass tort and product liability space. She is a sought-after, nationally and internationally recognized expert in product liability estimation, insurance analysis, and corporate restructure including both bankruptcy and liability divestiture. Her practice includes liability estimation projections, insurance allocation, cash flow analysis, and claims analysis. She has consulted and testified regarding a diverse array of industries and products including asbestos, talc, protective equipment, pharmaceuticals, environmental toxins including AFFF, sexual abuse, and sports economics.

Dr. Horewitz serves as the President of Gnarus Advisors partnering with our executive board to set the company’s direction and priorities. With her personal experience as a consultant and deep understanding of the work of her Gnarus colleagues, she is committed to maintaining and growing Gnarus as a firm focused on fostering an unparalleled culture for consultants and best in class client-centered analyses.

Dr. Horewitz earned a Doctorate and Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The George Washington University.

Sirgo, Jorge

For more than 25 years, Mr. Sirgo has provided data science and economic consulting expertise using machine learning and other statistical methods combined with a unique ability to visualize, present, translate, and communicate patterns in complex and large data to address various business applications.

Mr. Sirgo’s expertise includes estimating liability from future bodily injury claims to project the cost to resolve current and future claims, evaluate insurance recovery, estimate reserves, and facilitate corporate restructure. In addition, Mr. Sirgo also calculates and critiques estimates of lost earnings and benefits in class actions related to unpaid overtime pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act. He uses statistical analyses to quantify, validate and critique opposing expert’s estimates of business loss interruptions resulting from cyber-attacks. Mr. Sirgo also employs statistical sampling techniques to design, evaluate, and critique statistical samples in the determination of damages and validation of audits.

He earned a Master of Arts in Public Finance and Regulation from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

White, Richard

Mr. White is an expert on the allocation of costs at hazardous waste sites, as well as the evaluation and analysis of liability, allocation and related issues faced by parties at SuperFund sites.  He has more than three decades of experience consulting with private clients on environmental and insurance coverage issues. He is a frequent contributor to environmental journals where he discusses a variety of cost allocation issues.

Prior to joining Gnarus, Mr. White worked in the environment and insurance claims groups at LECG, PA Consulting Group and Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett Inc.

He earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University, and Bachelor of Arts in Economics, History, and Political Science from Willamette University.
