Williams, Marcia

Marcia Williams is an expert on solid and hazardous waste. Ms. Williams’s practice focuses on regulatory expert and litigation support, environmental performance assessment and improvement, strategic environmental counseling and policy support and environmental business risk/opportunity evaluation and mitigation. She brings a wealth of government and corporate experience to Gnarus. Ms. Williams held senior management positions in multiple offices of the Environmental Protection Agency during her 18 years with the agency. Her work in the private sector has included top-level positions at several distinguished firms.

Ms. Williams played a significant role in the development, implementation and enforcement of federal and state regulatory programs. She also provided expert testimony in a wide range of litigation matters, including insurance coverage cases, contract disputes, CERCLA cost recovery actions, toxic tort cases, federal and state civil and criminal enforcement matters and NAFTA cases.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics from Dickinson College and studied math and physics at the graduate level at the University of Maryland.

Warshaw, Christopher

Christopher Warshaw helps Gnarus clients address complex environmental and consumer product compliance and management issues. He works with numerous domestic and international companies, across almost all industry sectors, to improve their compliance programs and to manage difficult regulatory matters.

With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Warshaw has conducted management and regulatory compliance reviews in 19 countries and has helped design and implement compliance management systems for companies in a variety of industries. For trade associations and private clients, Mr. Warshaw provides regulatory and legislative analysis and advocacy services and has represented clients before various regulatory authorities.

He earned a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University, and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago.

Sellick, Stephen

Stephen Sellick is an experienced consultant specializing in the management of complex quantitative analysis in litigation matters, particularly projects in environmental, mass tort and product liability claims.  He evaluates claims in insurance allocation, internal management, cost allocation, cost recovery and litigation risk analysis. He also participates in studies involving regulatory economics, cost accounting and financial analysis of the electric utility industry. He works with clients in insurance, consumer manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, natural gas, pharmaceuticals, electric utility, and agricultural products industries.

Mr. Sellick’s practice extends to work in board ESG oversight and risk management; in this space he is focused on assisting for-profit, social enterprises, and nonprofits with risk management of environmental & mass tort contingent liabilities; governance & board structure via board assessments & board skills matrix reviews; and board formation & best practices.

Mr. Sellick is the Chairman of Gnarus’ Board of Directors and works with Gnarus executives and its Board to determine the overall direction and strategy of the company consistent with our team’s vision and values.  He is active in the San Francisco chapter of the Private Directors Association and the Alumni Council of the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago. Mr. Sellick is a member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals and is recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a recommended expert in Insurance & Reinsurance Expert Witnesses.

Mr. Sellick holds an M.A. in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Simon, John

John Simon directs environmental projects throughout the United States for Gnarus. He has more than 30 years of experience assessing, managing and mitigating issues associated with hazardous sites.

Mr. Simon’s areas of expertise include remediation, due diligence, environmental insurance, liability risk transfer and environmental management. He also frequently provides expert testimony and is editor-in-chief of the Remediation Journal. Mr. Simon is the task group lead for the ASTM Greener Cleanup Standard and an active member of the Sustainable Remediation Forum.

He earned a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University. Mr. Simon also graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
